A quick way to create a website is to find a template. Templates can be had for a very low cost and make website creation much simpler.
Even though most templates will be sold over and over, odds are no customer will ever see another website with the template you have chosen. There are quite simply too many websites. In addition, if you switch out the graphics, say, put in your own logo, your site will have at least some difference from other sites using the same templates.
The hardest part is finding the template you want to use. You don't want one that looks cheap, has an excessive number of graphics or is sloppily coded. You do want one that is easily adapted for your needs.
If you are unfamiliar with HTML, it can be difficult to determine if a template is well coded. This makes it important to get your templates from a good source. If a template includes a separate CSS file, the size of your pages when you upload your site will probably be smaller, resulting in faster loading for your visitors and less bandwidth used.
You may have to invest in software in order to use a template. There are free HTML editors, such as the one found in Netscape Communicator, but they may not be compatible with all templates and may not write very clean HTML. You will need to decide if it is worthwhile to you to budget the money for FrontPage or Dreamweaver. Take a look at your software options carefully.
